Drinkers can drink to the future health of the servers on Monday in Health! Waiters for Health, a charity party hosted by the Bartenders Association of America. "The event will be held on the second floor of Freemans, the Bowery bar area has produced some of the best mixologists in the city. Proceeds will help pay the bills of the waiters' care.
Recently, the bartending trade has become increasingly concerned about the injuries difficult to shake the waiters keep running back, shoulder and wrist work effort.
"The waiters have a very physical," said Lynnette Marrero, a bartender who is helping organize the night. "We suffered a lot of diseases caused by repetitive motion and standing agitation for 10-hour shifts. In addition, we work late at night and are vulnerable to accidents. If a waiter is injured can not work. Bartenders' Guild of America "is really focused on making affordable health care available to all its members."
